What is Dragonfly?

Dragonfly Management (Bolsover) Ltd and Dragonfly Development Ltd

 

History: Inspired by the discovery of Erasipteron Bolsoveri, a large Dragonfly fossil, in Bolsover Colliery, Dragonfly was set up as a development company responsible for delivering Bolsover District Council’s construction requirements including new build domestic & commercial, capital schemes but can also deliver projects for other clients in a one stop consultancy led turnkey project delivery approach. 

 

One of the Council’s core ambitions, as set out in its Ambition Statement, is to become a dynamic, self-sufficient and flexible Council that delivers excellent services, whilst adapting to local aspirations and acting as the economic and environmental driver for Bolsover District.

 

Dragonfly is set up to enable economic and community regeneration through direct commercial action and to return a shareholder dividend to Bolsover District Council.

Our aim is to be an ethical, socially responsible principal construction contractor. Our main focus is to generate 10% profit and to deliver projects on time to a very high quality standard. We strive to work with clients to provide them with the most efficient value for money schemes possible, which puts quality and positive client experience over maximising profit. We nurture a supportive, collaborative and inclusive environment, where people are empowered to make decisions, be creative, have the ability to influence improvements and the future direction of the organisation.

Dragonfly Development

Dragonfly Development Limited is an exemplar and progressive public private partnership with social value at the heart of its approach. There is a clear vision to deliver social, economic and environmental value through engaged local supply chains, community involvement and improved, sustainable housing in places where people want to live. Set up to deliver Bolsover District Council’s construction requirements including new build domestic and commercial capital schemes; Dragonfly Development is able to deliver projects for other clients in a one stop consultancy led turnkey project delivery approach.  

Responsible for:

  • Completion of over 40 of new council houses and Independent Living Scheme flats, including projects in Shirebrook, Langwith and Whaley Thorns

  • Management of £9.4m Roseland Park & Crematorium project

  • New £9m housing development in Blackwell

  • Completion of 26 new homes in North Nottinghamshire, in partnership with Bersahill Ltd

  • Scoping out new development opportunities that fit in with the Council’s ambitions, to benefit local communities

  • Working with other local authorities to deliver their build programmes in a secure and cost-effective way

  • Offering pre-construction services to enhance supply chain, utilising procurement rules, to offer other local authorities a hybrid delivery model toward their projects, from RIBA 0 – 7

Dragonfly Management also leads on:

  • Economic development, and strategically aligning arts, culture, heritage and place

  • Delivering a variety of grant funded business support programmes, responsive to the needs of the business community

  • Facilitating growth and investment in pre-start, start-up, SME and growth industries to boost employment and the economic well-being of residents

Responsible for:

  • Delivering property service and repairs

  • General maintenance services across the Council’s housing stock and corporate property

  • Delivering the Authority’s vision of becoming a dynamic, self-sufficient and flexible Authority that upholds excellent standards, whilst adapting to local aspirations and acting as the economic and environmental driver for the local area 

  • Business growth services managing commercial property and estates, responsible for tenant liaison
